How to Get Video Game Tester Jobs

Most people around you will tell you that video game tester jobs are incredibly hard to come by, and aren't worth going after. I have a few friends who do work as games testers, and they love their jobs. They get paid to sit at home and play video games that others will not usually play for months. The best thing about game testing is that it can be done from home and in your spare time. As a bonus, you often get the final version of the game for free or at a reduced price.

Let me first show you what is in store!. You can earn anything between $10 and $120 per hour depending upon the job you land.

Once you are given a video game tester job, the video game companies will mail you a copy of the beta version of the game for play testing. Sometimes, there will be a document which you will need to fill out if you encounter any bug. At other times, you simply need to fill out a form online. Your role as a game tester is to find and report bugs and game defects. You will have to create a detailed report on how to reproduce each problem you find and communicate it with the game company. You need to keep detailed notes of everything that you do and find, and present them in a professional way. You won’t have to work full time, but you do have to accept it as a job, and that it comes with responsibilities.

You need to have both computer skills and video game playing experience. By computer skills, I don't mean coding and stuff! All you need is to be able to do basic internet like uploading files, emailing and using instant messengers. Feedback is essential and it might be asked from you in various forms and you need to download and install the games which I bet you know pretty well!

This does not mean that being a video game tester won't be fun. After you receive your first pay check you'll realize how the world looks the other way round, that is, how it feels to get paid playing games when until now you were spending money from your wallet to play the same games!
